Doug Farwell specializes in the professional acting technique of Sanford Meisner. He has owned and operated private acting studios in New York City and in the Baltimore/Washington DC area. Doug recieved his MFA from the Graduate Professional Actor Training Program at Northern Illinois University where he trained as a teacher under nationally recognized master instructor Kathryn Gately. Ms Gately was recently featured as one of the fifty most influential acting teachers in the United States "Acting Teachers of America: A Vital Tradition." Outside of his private studios, Doug has instructed and coached MFA and BFA candidates in the professional acting program at Northern Illinois University and has taught the Meisner Technique at the renown Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City.
Doug's students have been cast in television, feature films and on Broadway. He is an acting coach for independent film as well as off-Broadway.
As a director, Doug has been involved with productions off & off-off Broadway and at the university level. He is also a producer of commercials, corporate industrials and television. Doug is a member of the Screen Actors Guild.
