Doug Farwell is a director and acting teacher who specializes in the professional acting technique of Sanford Meisner. He has owned and operated private acting studios in New York City and Baltimore, MD. Doug recieved his MFA from the Graduate Professional Actor Training Program at Northern Illinois University where he trained as a teacher under master instructor Kathryn Gately who studied with Sanford Meisner at the Neighborhood Playhouse. At Northern Illinois University, Doug instructed and coached MFA and BFA candidates in the professional acting program. He has taught the Meisner Technique with Ms. Gately at the Neighborhood Playhouse and has been a guest instructor with theater companies within the Northeast.
Doug has been an acting coach for independent film as well as off-Broadway. His students have been cast in television, feature films and on Broadway. He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild.
As a director and producer, Doug has been involved with productions off & off-off Broadway and at the university level. His credits include Seascape with Sharks and Dancer, Beirut, Proof, Balm In Gilead and Morning Coffee. Doug has been a line producer for television, corporate industrials and commercials.
